Sweet and Simple Sewing
Sweet and Simple Sewing
Hi everyone, we're Lauren, Jessi, and Carrie Jung, and we're so excited to announce that we've written our very first book, Sweet and Simple Sewing, through Martingale Publishers. It will be hitting stores in March or April of this year and it will be debuted at this Spring Quilt Market in Pittsburgh, yay! So check us out at the Martingale Booth (as well as our own booth where we're introducing our newest and coolest line yet, Pedal Pushers!)
And for those of you who won't be at Market, we've put together a little preview below to give you a sample of some of the projects in the book!
The cover photo shows off one of our most popular published patterns, The Pencil Box Quilt. The pencils are made out of jelly roll strips. And to us it's the perfect gift for a teacher... or a quilt studio.
Next we have our Berry Pillows. These are super easy to make and we love them! Our younger cousin, Sara, loved them so much she wanted us to make some for her dorm room. :) In the book we have directions for a smaller version too, that can be used as a pin cushion.
Our Hand-Bound Journals are a fun project that we've come up with using the skills I picked up in a book binding class in college. These are super fun to make... you can finish one up in a day... and my sister, Carrie, taught a high-school art class how to make them (because they really are super fun).
He Loves Me Daisy Quilt is my favorite project in the book!! It has sort of a retro feel to it. And it's a great quilt to showcase a lot of prints since it uses a charm pack.
Next are our Fly Away Canvases. We've done canvases in the past and we love them because they have that nice Pop Art feel... sort of Andy Warhol-esque.
And they look great when they're featured in sets.
Below is our Big Bang Quilt... named because of its big star-like blocks (but also because our favorite TV show is The Big Bang Theory). It's made of the same block, but in two variations. And you can't tell from the picture, but it's four blocks tall and three blocks wide so it makes a nice bed quilt!
These Easy Applique Potholders are fun because we like to think of them as mini quilts... perfect for beginners.
And then the last photo is of our Celebrations Quilt. This makes the perfect wallhanging for a child's room... or a birthday party backdrop!
We're really excited about this book! All of the quilts and projects use bright, colorful prints (a lot of which you might recognize from our past lines through Moda Fabrics).
So that wraps up our sampling! There are a number of other really cool projects in the book... some extra quilts, makeup bags, clutches, etc., but we didn't get everything back in the mail yet. :) So be sure to check out our book, Sweet and Simple Sewing, when you see it in stores!
On a side note, these photos were all taken about 10 minutes outside of Las Vegas (my new home). Carrie and I both live in the desert, so we thought we'd do a desert-themed photo shoot. :)
