Blockheads Revisited...
Blockheads Revisited...
Happy Block Heads Wednesday!
Since we don't have any blocks to share today... Jeremy Irons will have to do. Can you believe it's been thirty-seven years since the Brideshead Revisited miniseries first aired?
The dates for Block Heads 2 are set - we'll share the first details on May 2, and the first block will be shared/published on June 6.
But lest you think the Block Heads haven't been busy, I'm going to let you know what they've been up to, and what's coming in the next several weeks.
Let's start with Jan Patek - she starts her mornings with a bit of appliqué.
This is the May block for her 2018 Mystery Quilt. I love Jan's primitive angels and stars. And her appliqué.
Have you seen the May/June 2018 issue of Fons' and Porter's Love of Quilting Magazine? Dana Jones wrote a lovely feature about Jan and her quilting journey.
Betsy Chutchian has finished her Block Heads quilt!
Okay, so it wasn't finished when she took this picture. But since it's at the quilter now... it's finished. The Navy Blue sashing is perfect, the Gold and Red prints in the blocks "pop" against it.
Betsy had to get her quilt finished because she's heading to Nantes, France for the Pour l'Amour du Fil Quilt Show. (And yes, multiple offers were made to carry her luggage, be her assistant, etc.)
Lynne Hagmeier has been busy - she was cruising the Caribbean with Jenny Doan last month, teaching on a couple of quilting cruises. Have you ever been on one?
Ms. Kansas Troubles arrived home - to Kansas - in time for the UPS man to deliver a couple of big boxes with her Nature's Glory sample yardage.
This is Lynne's new collection - next collection. It's showing to shops now and will be available in September. Those colors are perfect for Fall... pumpkins?
This is Pumpkin Seeds. It measures 68" x 78" and it will be available as a pattern, and as a Kit. In September. The little pumpkin stems and leaves are also going to be available as pre-cut pieces - they're called Pumpkin Seed Kut-Ups.
Jo Morton has been working on several projects, a couple of fabric collections and a new book. Jo's Little Favorites III was released last month. (But I'll bet she's already working on another one.)
This is Jo's Shirtings - 32 mostly small-scale prints that work beautifully as backgrounds. With a little color mixed in.
This is Old School - it's a re-do of one of my favorite old patterns. I love this lighter version... I might need to make one of these for myself.
Jo's newest collection is Spice It Up - it will be in shops in September.
This spectacular quilt was designed by Moda's Susan Stiff. It will be a Moda Project Sheet, available when the collection ships. (If you don't know Susan, she's the designer of many Moda quilts and almost all of the gorgeous kit boxes.)
Lisa Bongean is staying out of trouble... except she's making it for others. Look at these itty bitty teeny tiny pieces!!
This block has 104 pieces. What do you want to bet that it measures 6" finished? That means the half-triangles in the corners and center finish at 1/2".
In addition to the teeny tiny, Lisa has also been making quilts with her Wool & Needle Flannels.
This quilt is Every Which Way - it measures a big 92" x 107".
Wool & Needle Flannels VI. Have you ever felt these fabrics? They are so soft and yummy... really, that's the only word to describe how wonderful they feel. They wash up beautifully too. Wool & Needle Flannels VI will be available in August.
So there you have it, the Block Heads revisited. We're caught up with who is doing what, where they've been and where they're going.
How is your quilt coming along? Have you finished the blocks?
I'll have a picture of my quilt soon - it's finished and being quilted. (It might even be on its way back to me.)
Happy Wednesday!
