BH3 Block 26 - ZigZags

This is Block 26, we're almost at the half-way point.  (There are 56 blocks for Block Heads 3.)

BH3 Block 26 ZigZags Janet Clare

This is ZigZags by Janet Clare - Block Heads 3 Block 26.  The instructions can be found here - Janet Clare.

Janet's block can be made in four sizes - 4", 6", 8" and 12" finished.  The half-triangle squares all finish at 1", each block simply adds more.  (If you want to use larger HTSs, that's always an option.)

One of my favorite things that Janet creates is her thread painting.  It's probably more accurate to call it thread-drawing.  Janet uses free-motion stitching to draw houses, birds, faces and whatever strikes her fancy.

Janet Clare Thread Drawing 1

The fabrics for the bird are fused to the fabric and stitched to create texture.  The flower stem is entirely free-motion.  I've seen her do this and she makes it look very easy... but then, she is an artist who creates beautiful drawings and paintings.  (Janet uses Perm Fuse Adhesive by HotFix to fuse the fabrics.  When two fabrics are fused together, they are soft and pliable, and very secure along the edges.)

Janet Clare Thread Drawing 2

Yes, Janet writes with thread too.  I love the idea that she creates a scrapbook journal of memories and moments with these litle drawings.

She's also making Block Heads' blocks with her fabrics.

BH3 Janet Clare Block 24 Lucky Penny

Janet used assorted blue prints from her Geometry collection to make Vanessa Goertzen's Block 23 - Lucky Penny.  We love that she made a 6" block using four "pennies" from the 12" block.

BH3 Janet Clare Block 23 Be My Neighbor

Be My Neighbor - one 6" block made using the instructions for the 12" block.  Minus 3 houses.  This is Block 23 by Stacy Iest Hsu.  (These fabrics are also from Geometry - it's in shops now.)

One more time - the instructions for ZigZags can be found on Janet's blog - Janet Clare.

And if you need the instructions for any other blocks - Block Heads 3 Archive.  (It is updated every Wednesday and Friday.)

Be sure to check out what the other Block Heads are sharing - there are sure to be a few tips and variations:
