BluePrint QAL starting soon

BluePrint QAL starting soon

It is almost time for our fast and furious QAL, Blueprint.

This quilt is one that Susan Ache made from the new book, Celebrate with Quilts. Susan made her quilt using Peachy Keen by Corey Yoder.

With big, easy-to-piece blocks, this quilt gives you a “blueprint” for designing your own scrappy quilt. You’ll finish just in time for a last-minute holiday gift or learn how they use the blueprint layout for other quilts such as the heart quilt shown here.

This would certainly be a more adventourous QAL and not really doable in 4 days. You can get started and create the Mi Amour quilt for Valentines, wedding gift or just someone special.

QAL will be hosted on Moda Fabrics blog. You will need the book, Celebrate With Quilts, Stock ISE- 957

Blueprint can be made starting with your favorite Moda Layer cake or F8 bundle, adding some additional yardages of your favorite prints. Since Susan and I both do scrappy quilts it is hard to give exact yardages since we let the fabric do the work. Sometimes it is just moving things around which means additional yardages. I tend to add some basics or what I would call nothing prints to my fabric pull.

Susan is having fun doing something completely different. She is using Curated in Color by Cathe Holden along with some basics. I can't wait to see how this turns out.

For the the QAL, I have decided to use a combination of Christmas collections from Fancy That Design House, including Cheer and Merriment. I love her inspirational messages and I have not sewn much from this designer, so it is perfect for a special Christmas gift.

Join Susan Ache and myself for the QAL here starting

December 7: Introduction and cutting

December 8: One segment of sewing

December 9: Second segment of sewing

December 10: Finish up and talk about backings, quilting, binding and more

It is a total of 42 blocks. Can't wait to see what you make. Share your progress and fabric pull by using hashtag #blueprintQAL and tagging Susan or myself.

Enjoy !  -modalissa
