A brand new book

You'll never believe what came yesterday.  Because I still can't believe it!  After a very lonnnng wait (so maybe I'm not super patient), my second book finally landed on my doorstep.

Hooray!

I officially started this book a little over 18 months ago, but designed several of the quilts even before that. So even though it is still in pre-order right now (I hear it will be available in May) I couldn't wait one more day to show you a few (maybe too many?) of the photos and projects from it. Hope you don't mind.

But before I say anything else, a thank you.  I know, I've had a lot of these here on the blog lately, but truth be told, I couldn't do what I do without a whole lot of help from a whole lot of wonderful people.  I'm so very grateful for every person who made this book happen.  You know who you are.

So about this book...

There are 11 projects, and several variations as well.  All the sewing basics and finishing information are included in it, and lots of tricks and tips as well. They are all made from precuts (including fat quarters) and some are scrappy.  I love scrappy.

When I decided I was going to write this book, I decided I wouldn't include any quilt in in unless I absolutely loved it.  In fact, I designed (and made!) a few that didn't make the cut, and I can honestly say that I love each one of the quilts that ended up in here.

The house quilt, which was the first one I designed when I thought about writing another book is still one of my favorites. I would love to make it again and put a whole bunch of my favorite blocks in the houses.

And maybe another out of all solids?  Or in happy-go-lucky??

This quilt and the one at the top of the post were quilted by Angela, who did an absolutely stellar job.  Like, CRAZY great job.  She's awesome.  I may have mentioned that before.

When I photographed my first book, I was really new to photography and it was one of the most difficult parts of the book for me. This time, I had the BEST time shooting it. Really, such a great time.  I mean, it is a lot of hard work (and OH the mess) but I loved it.  All the photos (except the flat whole quilt shots) were taken in our new house not long after we moved in, which is one of the reasons for getting the house put together as fast as we could.

This wouldn't quite look the same with the orginal fireplace.  ;-)

This one, Fresh, is a queen size (yay!) and you have to see the close up on the quilting. I sewed every quilt in the book except this one, since it was the last one and I was in the middle of Marmalade Market sewing.  Sherri pieced it last minute (and did a fantastic job) and Andrea Marquez quilted it.  What would I do without these ladies? (Thanks girls!)

Okay, I'll try to keep the chatter to a minimum and show more photos...

And there you have it.  Well, a few highlights from it.  Putting all 110 pages on here would make for a very long blog post.  If you would like a copy, you can find it here on Amazon, or signed copies available here in my shop.  I promise they will be shipped out the second they arrive.  Well, maybe not the exact second, but darn close.

I'm pretty happy about it, can you tell? Blame the new book smell.
