Inspired by relaxing with friends on a lazy summer afternoon, porch swings, iced tea and laughter, Summer in the Country is here.  Using Back Porch by Me & My Sister Designs, this collection will be in shops in August.

YIELD

12" finished block

INGREDIENTS

FROM FABRIC A, CUT:
* (4) 2½” x 4½” rectangles
* (4) 2½” squares

FROM FABRIC B, CUT:
* (8) 2½” squares

FROM FABRIC C, CUT:
* (4) 2½” squares
* (4) 2½” x 4½” rectangles

FROM FABRIC D, CUT:
* (4) 1½” x 4½” rectangles

FROM FABRIC E, CUT:
* (4) 1½” x 4½” rectangles

FROM FABRIC F, CUT:
* (1) 4½” square

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Flying Geese

Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of all Fabric B squares. Line 1 square up with the corner of Fabric A rectangle. Sew on the marked line. Trim ¼” away from stitch line and press the point open. Repeat for the other side. 

The geese should finish at 2½” x 4½”. Make 4.

Step 2: Center Unit

Sew together D and E rectangles. Make 4.

Join  each with 1 flying geese unit.

Step 3: Corner Unit

Sew together Fabric A and Fabric C squares. Add Fabric C rectangle. Make 4.

Join  each with 1 flying geese unit.

ASSEMBLE THE BLOCK

Join block units as shown. Trim block to 12½” unfinished size.
