Inspired by relaxing with friends on a lazy summer afternoon, porch swings, iced tea and laughter, Summer in the Country is here.  Using Back Porch by Me & My Sister Designs, this collection will be in shops in August.

YIELD

12" finished block

INGREDIENTS

From Fabric A, Cut:
(4) 3” squares
(4) 2⅞” squares cut once on the diagonal to make 8 triangles

From Fabric B Cut:
(4) 2½” squares
(8) 3” squares

From Fabric C Cut:
(2) 4⅞” squares, cut once on the diagonal to make 4 triangles

From Fabric D Cut:
(4) 2½” squares
(4) 3” squares

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Center Units

Add the triangles made from the 2⅞ Fabric A squares to adjacent sides of Fabric B square as shown. Press. Add Fabric C triangle. Trim to 4½” square.

Repeat to make 4 of center units.

Step 2: Half-Square Triangles (HSTs)

Draw a line along the diagonal of the WRONG SIDE of each 3” Fabric A and Fabric D squares.  With right sides together, layer one Fabric A and one Fabric C square.  Sew ¼” away from each side of marked line. Cut along the marked diagonal line. Press to the print fabric and trim squares to 2½ ” square.

Repeat to make (8) Fabric A + B 2½” HSTs and (8) Fabric B + D 2½ HSTs.

ASSEMBLE THE BLOCK

Join block compenents as shown. Repeat to make 4 block units.

Join block units as shown. Trim block to 12½” unfinished size.
