Antler Quilt Design Patterns
Hello, my name is Doug Leko and I am the designer behind Antler Quilt Design.
Fall has arrived in my home state of Minnesota. The lady that cuts my hair told me today that the Baltimore Orioles went south last week. My Grandma was telling me that we stop feeding the humming birds at the end of this week. The Canadian Geese are flying in formation and are on their move south. Several friends have been sharing their apple harvest with me and a quilting friend has given me her mother’s apple crisp recipe - I’m enjoying making my own.
Once everyone gets beyond the Labor Day holiday, and the beginning of school, a quilter’s attention can again return to quilting. As a designer I am getting ready for Fall Quilt Market in late October where I have the opportunity to show quilt shop owners my new designs so we can inspire you!
This summer as I have been out speaking at many quilt guilds, one of my spring patterns, Rustic Star, has got everyone talking. It goes together in a snap. It can be used as a topper or a wall hanging.

Some questions Outlaw asked me to answer -

What is your one guilty pleasure in life?
Like everyone else I have plenty of UFOs. At any given time there are numerous samples and test projects to get done for AQD. But lately - I have been drawn to wool appliqué projects by Primitive Gatherings. . . oh my . . . I need more hours in my day!!
Where do you do your best thinking?
I am very fortunate to have a nice studio to work in. I have lots of windows - great light and fresh air. There really is nothing like sitting at my sewing machine and it is snowing like crazy outside!!
What do you listen to while you work?
I do like background noise. If there is nothing on TV I pull out some of my favorite DVDs: Pirates of the Caribbean, TV Series like M*A*S*H, Everybody Loves Raymond, Reba and Gilmore Girls.

If you checked my iTunes account you’d find lots of hit songs from the 50’s and early 60’s (Maltshop Memories). I am a huge Adele fan. Last but not least, I enjoy a huge variety of Christmas music!!
